Congratulations

Dear Colleagues

Time flies so quickly. Since my last newsletter, another Business Administration Research Center at the NEU Hanoi has opened. Dr. Phuc (Director) and Dr. Nhuan (Deputy Director) are in charge of the Center called "Center Of Management Education and Development" COMED. The COMED has already done a detailed Training Need Assessment for the Business Administration Faculties of the four Partner Universities. As a result over 60 training topics have been prioritized for each University. SAV will address the needs in the coming months.

People are still talking about our 1st International Conference on "Management Education in the 21st Century" of September 2001. In the meantime the 2nd Conference has been successfully held from 10-12th September 2003 in Hanoi. Experts from many countries have presented keynotes and discussed papers with a substantial number of vietnamese researchers (SAV alumni, PhD candidates and others). I would like to thank all of them for their contributions. The organisation team of Dr.Binh, University of Technology Hanoi, has earned many compliments for the smooth implementation of the Conference. The proceedings can be found on this webpage shortly. Already the 3rd Conference (September 2005) has been announced and Dr. Nguyen Huu Lam has been appointed as General Secretary.

Whereas the PhD students of the first intake have reached candidacy and finished their residential period abroad, twenty participants have been selected for the second intake (see picture above). One lady, Ms. Truong Thi Lan Anh, is not on the picture as she gave birth to her first baby shortly before the seminar! Congratulations and best wishes to you!

On September 12th, the SAV alumni met in Lenin Park Hanoi. Almost 60 came and spent some time with SAV classmates and former faculty member Dr. Arno Schircks.

The current year will end soon with a PhD Seminar in December and a workshop for BARC Directors at AIT Bangkok. At the same time we are preparing a small booklet about ten years of SAV Programme (1993-2003). We shall mail a copy to you as soon as it is available.

Best wishes to all of you

Dr.Hans

Happy New Year and hope to see you soon again!
